- Apr 23, 2014 UV mapping is best done externally in a dedicated mapping enviroment. Blender ha very powerful mapping tools and it is free. I also recommend Ultimate Unwrap 3D or UV LayOut.
- Instructor Hi, I'm George Maestri.Today we're going to look at mapping, specifically UV mapping. Now we're going to be using a specific plug-in,and that's called SketchUV.So if we go into our Extension Warehouse,we type in SketchUV.It should come up.And this plug-in is a free plug-in,and it allows you to do some basic UV mapping.
Real Time Preview
WrapR for SketchUp syncs the 3D and 2D viewports so changes are seen instantly. Easily identify texture distortion and texel density.
Fast Workflow
WrapR allows you to mark your UV seams directly in SketchUp. It even stores your seams so you can save your file and resume later.
Smart Edge Marking
WrapR for SketchUp automatically detects topological loops in your models. One click UV seams wherever you need them.
Smart Path Detection
WrapR for SketchUp uses a Smart Path detection to determine the best edge flow for UV seams.
No need to waste time picking edges. Just pick a start and end. It's that simple!

- [Instructor] Hi, I'm George Maestri.…Today we're going to look at mapping,…specifically UV mapping.…Now we're going to be using a specific plug-in,…and that's called SketchUV.…So if we go into our Extension Warehouse,…we type in SketchUV.…It should come up.…And this plug-in is a free plug-in,…and it allows you to do some basic UV mapping.…
Now the mapping by default in SketchUp…leaves something to be desired.…So this will, hopefully, fill in some of the holes.…So if you haven't installed it, go ahead and install it now.…And it should show up here, under SketchUV…in the extensions menu.…So I have this scene here,…and I've got a couple of objects…that we're going to map.…So we have an upholstered chair…and a cylinder.…So I'm going to go into my layers window,…and just go ahead and click on upholstered to hide it,…and let's go ahead and start with that cylinder.…
Vray Sketchup Uv Mapping
So I'm going to go ahead and zoom in.…Now typically when we map something like this,…the easiest way to do it,…is to go ahead and import an image,…so in this case, I'm going to import an image…
